While the President's proposal to reallocate between the Old Age and Survivors and Disability Insurance Trust Funds in order to keep both Trust Funds solvent through 2034 would have been a better result for Social Security Disability Insurance beneficiaries and their families, the Budget Agreement reallocation provision, which extends the Disability Insurance Trust Fund solvency through 2022, has removed the specter of a 19 percent benefit cut next year.  This is good news for those who rely on the disability benefits they have earned and for which they qualify.  While we have concerns about some of the policy changes included in the package, we look forward to addressing those concerns through the Social Security Administration's rulemaking process to implement these changes.
