SSA recently notified NADR that they are now using a different software for CD encryption. Please see the following text taken from a letter from SSA:
In March 2016, we will deploy new CD encryption/decryption software in ODAR hearing offices. The new software, McAfee, will replace the current Check Point software. Although the changes are minor, we wanted your community to be aware of the differences between the two software applications and their impact on the CD decryption process. Please see the enclosed “Compare and Contrast” document for details about the changes.
We’d also like to take this opportunity to encourage your community to continue signing up for Appointed Representative Services. Since 2009, ARS has provided representatives with an avenue to conduct online business with the agency. We thank you for all of the support you’ve provided this important initiative, which gives representatives unprecedented access to their client’s electronic folders while safeguarding claimant Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and streamlining the disability appeals process.
