Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore, and Senator Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, are pleading with the Senate appropriations committee to approve the $12.5 billion that Donald Trump requested for the SSA in the 2018 budget. “At a time when the agency is facing an unprecedented number of our constituents waiting for a hearing and recent press articles have headlines stating that ‘thousands die on waitlists,’ SSA cannot make significant progress at reducing the disability hearings backlog without adequate resources,” the senators wrote.
